Comments

1

Jason Smith, Baylor, OT

New Detroit Front Office takes a page from the Dolphins draft playbook from last year with the safe tackle pick (Jake Long).

2

Eugene Monroe, Virginia, OT

Orlando Pace replacement, similar skill set, elite pass protection potential.

3

Brian Orakpo, Texas, OLB

KC pass rush was non-existent in '08...Orakpo provides bigger boost to defense with his ability to rush the passer.

4

Aaron Curry, Wake Forest, OLB

Seahawks and Jim Mora take about 5 seconds to make this pick...The perfect Julian Peterson replacement.

5

Everette Brown, Florida State, OLB

With Orakpo/Curry gone, E. Brown the next best option for Browns defense...Cleveland might not want another 1st round FSU pass rusher (K. Wimbley).

6

B.J. Raji, Boston College, DT

Marvin Lewis finally gets his franchise DT in Raji...makings of a great defensive tackle unit with Peko/Pat Sims already in place.

7

Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech, WR

Jeremy Maclin the other potential choice, Al Davis making it a point to get JaMarcus some weapons...Davis makes the conventional pick for once in Crabtree.

8

Matthew Stafford, Georgia, QB

New Jacksonville GM Gene Smith gets his QB of the future in Stafford...Jack Del Rio on razor thin ice for '09 season.

9

Aaron Maybin, Penn State, OLB

Pack need a pass rusher opposite Aaron Kampman in new 3-4 defense...Maybin bit of a stretch pick at #9 overall.

10

Andre Smith, Alabama, OT

Smith has elite potential/enormous risk...Does fill big void on San Fran O-Line.

11

Brian Cushing, USC, OLB

Buffalo usually drafts as boring as any team in the league, this pick no different...Cushing is a *** Jauron type player...Will look great next to Posluszny for the next 5+ years.

12

Mark Sanchez, USC, QB

Jay Cutler will be gone from Denver by draft day...McDaniels gets "his" guy in Sanchez...Might start from Day 1.

13

Michael Oher, Ole Miss, OT

Redskins never afraid to make the risky pick...Oher ultimate boom/bust player this year, a potential Top 5 Overall player...Jansen/Samuels getting old, O-Line needs a boost.

14

Malcolm Jenkins, Ohio State, CB

Immidiate shot in the arm for the Saints secondary...Not looking bad after Darren Sharper/Jabari Greer free agent signings.

15

Jeremy Maclin, Missouri, WR

Defense thought to be the pick, but Gary Kubiak gets his offensive weapon in Maclin...Can also help right away with returns.

16

Tyson Jackson, LSU, DE

Igor Olshansky replacement...Tyson Jackson a rock solid, no downside type of prospect

17

Josh Freeman, Kansas State, QB

Jets need options at QB and Freeman has great potential...Might have best arm in class.

18

Eben Britton, Arizona, OT

Bears need some O-Line depth, last year's first round pick Chris Williams not a lock after missing all of '08.

19

Peria Jerry, Ole Miss, DT

Explosive, Warren Sapp-ish DT prospect the Bucs sorely need for the Tampa 2 to succeed.

20

Robert Ayers, Tennessee, DE

Jim Schwartz gets his defensive stud to build around...Ayers great against the run and pass.

21

Brandon Pettigrew, Oklahoma State, TE

Huge hole at TE filled by Pettigrew...Huge plus that he blocks like an offensive tackle.

22

Hakeem Nicks, North Carolina, WR

Big, west coast WR who will catch a lot of balls in a Brad Childress offense...Might not start day 1, but will be huge factor by middle of season.

23

Clint Sintim, Virginia, OLB

The Patriots linebackers are getting up in years and Sintim is a versatile guy...He can line up inside or outside.

24

Vontae Davis, Illinois, CB

Atlanta secondary needs help and TE Vernon Davis lil' bro Vontae brings great speed and man covers skills to the table.

25

Clay Matthews, USC, OLB

Parcells will fall in love with NFL bloodline...CM3 will be a great fit rushing the passer in the Dolphins 3-4.

26

Rey Maualuga, USC, ILB

Ravens thrilled Maualuga slips to the end of round 1...Rey will team with Ray in the middle of the Ravens defense.

27

Percy Harvin, Florida, WR

Perfect new weapon for Peyton and OC Tom Moore...He will be used as a WR and Reggie Bush-type RB.

28

Chris Wells, Ohio State, RB

Thunder has now arrived in the Philadelphia backfield...Eagles offense gets WAY better with addition of Pettigrew/Wells.

29

Kenny Britt, Rutgers, WR

Just in case Plaxico can't make it back from legal troubles, Kenny Britt a great young talent for Eli and Giants offense.

30

Derrius Heyward-Bey, Maryland, WR

Titans finally get that elite deep speed weapon (4.30) they have been looking for...DHB might start Week 1 with that weak WR corp.

31

Knowshon Moreno, Georgia, RB

Look for Knowshon to get all of the Edge carries (after Edge gets released)...Huge fantasy sleeper for 2009.

32

Darius Butler, Connecticut, CB

Great 40 time, great size, fills big need in Pittsburgh secondary after B. McFadden left for Arizona.
